SEDIMENT BASIN BAFFLES
Definition
Sediment basin baffles are solid
barriers, usually constructed of plywood and posts, that are
installed in the basin bottom in order to maximize detention time of
sediment laden runoff.
Purpose
Baffles are used to increase the
effective flow length in situations where the length to width ratio
of the basin is less than 2:1. Length is the distance between the
inlet and the outlet.
